Description:
The program is open in the fall and spring sessions, with the possibility of one year study. The main characteristic of this program is the "full immersion" into the Italian culture through living with an Italian family, everyday contact with the realities of a small community and exploration of the richness of cultural, social and sporting activities possible in Parma. The program is open to all students, without requirement of prior Italian language. In the beginning there are intensive Italian language classes that enable the students to follow quickly the main program: "Continuity and Change in Contemporary Italy". Students can also take courses at the University of Parma according to their level of Italian language. Other aspects of the program are a Directed Independent Study Project which can include Studio Art, Music or another Italian related topic and study trips to Venice, Florence, Rome and Naples.
